The notion of a "trusted broker" is everywhere in the sector: labels, rankings, stars, certifications. It reassures. It says little about the real risk you face when entrusting your funds to a platform.

Trust in investment is not derived from a comparison site score. It is built on verification of what a comparison site has no structural incentive to conduct.

What a comparison site can evaluate

A serious comparison site can give you useful information on observable criteria: the broker's official regulation, transaction fees, platform quality, support responsiveness. These factors matter.

What it evaluates, however, is the commercial surface of the broker - what the broker itself chooses to present, and what the comparison site can measure from standardised tests.

What a comparison site cannot evaluate

A comparison site cannot evaluate what is not visible on the surface and does not contribute to client registration: the history of the people actually running the structure, legal entities linked to those people in other countries, civil or criminal proceedings involving management team members, or reports on previous platforms operated under different names.

This information exists. It is legally accessible in public databases, court archives and international registries. It requires time, a method and independence that comparison sites do not have.

When trust becomes critical

The question of trust becomes genuinely critical in three situations: on a first significant deposit with a broker discovered online without a personal recommendation, when an adviser associated with a known broker suggests increasing your exposure, and when a broker you have never heard of contacts you directly.

In all three cases, comparison sites cannot help. They have not verified that specific platform at the moment it contacts you, with the people operating it at that precise moment.

What we do

At YMV & Co., we verify brokers for what comparison sites do not check: the identity and history of the people behind the structure, linked entities, reports available from independent sources. Our analysis is commissioned by you - not by the broker.
