What you really risk

The most common scenario: you pay a deposit for a car you will never see, to a seller who vanishes. But there are other traps: a vehicle whose past is hidden - a serious accident repaired, a tampered odometer, debts attached to the vehicle, falsified papers - sold by someone who is not its real owner. You think you are getting a deal, you inherit a costly problem, sometimes a vehicle you have no legal right to resell.

Here too, by the time the problem appears, the money is already gone and the seller untraceable.

Why a detailed listing is not enough

A polished listing, sharp photos, a reassuring pitch: all of it can be manufactured. The seller's identity, the reality of their ownership of the vehicle, their history as a seller - none of it appears in the listing. A slightly low price is not luck, it is often the hook. And the deposit requested remotely is the clearest warning signal.
